funds will be used to assist those in need, and is specifically for cats including feral cats or free roaming/stray cats,
and is limited to residents of Johnson, Morgan and Hendricks counties. The Summerlee Foundation was established in 1988 by
Annie Lee Roberts to address animal protection through various causes. The standard
cost for cats is $35 female, and $30 male. If you need further help with the cost, you can apply for assistance by completing
the financial assistance form. Each application will be reviewed on an individual basis.

go on sale April 30? The USPS is working with Ellen Degeneres to bring attention to the millions of homeless pets and promoting
adopting through a shelter instead of buying from a breeder. The pet food company Halo will be donating 1 million meals to
shelter animals. Halo produces one of the best dog foods around called Spot's Stew, it is nutritious and dogs love it. To
find out more about the campaign, and to pre-order the stamps as they expect to sell out, go to the website www.stampstotherescue.com

A "Big Thank You" to everyone who came out on Saturday to the Center Grove Craft Fair, despite the economy, the
early bird shoppers were waiting for the doors to open to explore the many unique handmade items. And we are happy to report
that by mid afternoon we had sold out of our chocolate cheesecake truffles, and only had a couple of the new irish cream flavor
left! Our next event will be next Saturday November 14 at the Perry Meridian Craft Fair
in Greenwood, Indiana, just off SR135 on Stop 11 Road. This is another fantastic fair, with dozens of high quality crafters
displaying their unique items. We will have the chocolates available, and will also be taking orders for Christmas as well.
Need a pet or stray/homeless cat spayed or neutered? We are also signing up animals for our
next Low Cost Spay Neuter Community Day while we sell the chocolates, so please stop by Perry Meridian next Saturday to try

We will be adding many Community Days and locations for you to choose from over the next couple of months, as winter is not
that far away and we want to get as many outside animals fixed now as is possible. It is much easier and more comfortable
for them to recuperate from surgery while the weather is still mild. We know how harsh Indiana winters can be, so please don't
delay on scheduling your appointments. Sign up your animals today!
The SNIP van is now complete with the SNIP logo, thanks to Ellen and Glenn "Packy" Wheeler, owners of PGDecals in
Indianapolis. Ellen spent her Sunday afternoon putting all the graphics on our van and we say "thank you" for your
hard work and generosity. If the van has a bit of a "racey" look, its because Ellen's company does the graphics
for the majority of race cars in the Indy Racing League / Indy 500 cars.
A big "Thank You" to Ellen and "Packy" for supporting our organization!!
9/2/2009 We are
sad to report that "Pity" cat lost her fight with breast cancer last week. We received many words of kindness,

compassion.

the Animals prior to the walk, refreshments, and pet related vendor booths. SNIP volunteers will have an information booth

| Pity after breast cancer surgery |
7/10/2009
One very big reason to get your female cat spayed is to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Many pet owners don't know that both
dogs and cats can get breast cancer just like humans. And as in humans, it can be very deadly, particularly in cats.
This pretty girl is named "Pity", she was spayed later in life, and is now fighting
breast cancer. While snuggling on her favorite blanket shows off her incision from her surgery in June 2009 to remove several
breast tumors. According to Mitchell Crystal DVM (Chief of Medicine at North Florida Veterinary
Specialits) "feline mammary tumors are malignant 80 to 93% of the time, metastasis is frequent, and the overall
average time from detection of malignant gland to death is 1 year." He states that intact (unspayed) female cats
are most commonly affected. So if you want to help reduce your cat's risk, get her fixed now.
Don't wait and take a chance on this deadly disease.

"SNIP"
and Stoney Creek Pet Clinic joined efforts to save a gorgeous cat named Sam who was suffering from a severe case of stomatitis
and was brought to the clinic to be euthanized by his owner, a retired lady who due to financial conditions could not afford
the surgery to treat his condition. Thanks to a grant awarded to our organization by the Humane Society of the United
States, Sam was able to receive the life saving surgery that he needed, along with much love and attention from the staff
at Stoney Creek. He is back home with his owner and is recovering well. It is easy to overlook a dental condition that could be causing your cat extreme pain and weight loss, as well as
other serious medical problems. The stomatitis that Sam was suffering from caused his gums, particularly in the upper back
of his mouth, to become extremely inflamed. When the condition becomes severe enough, the treatment required as in Sam's
case may be a full mouth extraction of his teeth. Please always remember to check your cat's mouth regularly.

Here is Sam after surgery with Amy showing
everyone how happy he feels!

and our beloved mascot Neutered Nate says he will be there to scare away the goblins. The historic town of Irvington is a small area of Indianapolis, rich in culture and history, founded
in 1870. The annual festival began as a costume parade and window painting activity in 1946 as a way to boost children's
positive attitudes during the rationing days of WWII. The residents have carried on this tradition now for 62 years! The day long event is full of fun Halloween activities for the entire family, including ghost tours,

Tonja accepts Hometown Hero award for "SNIP" transport program
9/6/2008 The Gas America Oil Company recently recognized the "SNIP" free transportation
program by naming "SNIP" President Tonja Robertson as a Hometown Hero.
The transport program, which has been in operation for nearly 1 year, provides free transportation for pets to a spay
neuter clinic and is particularly helpful for the elderly and persons whose schedules make it difficult for them to get
their pets in to the vet for spay/neuters. "SNIP" volunteers do not get paid for taking the pets to the vet,
and they pay for gas out of their own pockets. The Hometown Hero award is to recognize efforts to make communities better,
in this case to reduce pet overpopulation.
In addition to a plaque, "SNIP" received a $250 gas gift certificate from Gas America. "We are very appreciative
of the support from Gas America as we are all volunteers and we want to continue assisting the public in obtaining spay neuter
services as a way of giving back to the community" stated Tonja.

6/27/2008 "SNIP" awarded Humane Society of United States grant!
The largest animal protection organization, HSUS, has just announced the awardees of their Foreclosure and Financial Crisis
Pet Fund. Our local, grassroots organization was 1 of only 11 throughout the United States to be selected to receive this
grant to assist pet owners struggling to care for their pets. In order to reach as many
persons needing assistance as possible, we are partnering with other social service organizations in our area which include
Morgan County WIC, Mooresville Senior Citizen Center, Churches in Mission Food Pantry, Desert Rose Women's Shelter, Ted's
Feed Store. To request assistance, pet owners are asked to complete the financial request form
online on our spay neuter services page. If they do not have access to the internet then pet owners may call and we will
take the application by phone. One of our volunteers will then review the application and contact the pet owner.
Due to the recent disasterous flooding in southern Indiana, we believe these funds will be especially helpful as pet owners
struggle financially to care for their pets. Thank you to the HSUS.

We can take orders for New Years and of course Valentines Day is perfect for chocolate.
Also we were excited to see Elizabeth in this month's Indianapolis Monthly Magazine, receiving the award for best chocolate
truffles in Indy! We are very happy to be partnering with her to help animals.

Our first Official "SNIP" transport will occur next Wed. as our group will transport, free of charge,
a group of kitties to the Pets ALIVE Clinic in Bloomington to be spayed and neutered. Along with the kitties will be
a gorgeous little pit bull puppy hitching a ride for his pediatric neuter. We are providing this free transportation service
as an additional option for persons with busy schedules or those without transportation. Pets ALIVE will be transporting the
pets back after completion of surgeries.

the kitties prepped for surgery.

Brenda was able to rescue from the jaws of a coyote) We hear from Brenda that Little Oprah has recuperated and is ready to

11/11/2007 Center
Grove Craft Fair was a success! The kickoff of our Chocolate Rescue Project was 2 weeks ago at Center Grove High
School in Greenwood, Indiana, and what a turnout. The doors opened at 8:30 and the shoppers flowed in until nearly closing
time at 4pm. We nearly sold out of our truffles, and did sell out of our toffee. We also took Christmas orders. Thank
you Elizabeth G. for partnering with us and creating the most magnificent chocolates. Perry Meridian Fair
in Greenwood this past Saturday was another success, we sold more chocolates and handed out information on our spay neuter
programs.
10/30/2007 Brenda
is rescheduling with Dr. Sharon who will be spaying the little cat that was attacked and nearly killed by a coyote in September.
Brenda was able to scare the coyote off, scoop up the little girl who was limp and in shock, and get her in for emergency
treatment. Her hair has just about all grown back in from the puncture wounds, and Brenda says she flies down the hallway.
A happy outcome.
10/28/2007 What
a fantastic conference we have just returned from! Petsmart Charities "Fix It Forum" in Chicago focusing on spay
neuter was very successful with representatives from all over the country. During the 3 day event we were able to network
and share ideas with others interested in solving pet overpopulation, and we also attended numerous seminars on
topics such as feral cats, working with local vets, and finding new funding sources to assist low income families. We now
will work to integrate these ideas into areas in Central and Southern Indiana such as Paragon, Morgantown and Monrovia, Southport
and Greenwood.
We have a wide array of experience including 2 volunteers (Clara and Linda) with extensive rescue and adoption experience,
animal control experience, (Tonja) feline special needs and geriatric care, (Leslie) sales and marketing, and even construction.
Julian is our numbers guy who keeps us very organized, and is involved in most of our community events, and we have Brenda
reviewing our Chocolate Rescue project, and Dr. Sharon (DVM) is always there for us! All of our efforts are due to our
love for animals. We are all volunteers, and even though we do not get paid monetarily, we do get much more through
our satisfaction of helping our community and animals, and by making the world just a little better from our efforts.
